Yousef Javier is a bassist, educator, and composer based out of Sacramento, CA.  He received his Master of Music degree at California State University, Los Angeles, and is an Adjunct Music Professor at Folsom Lake College.  

He has a rich passion for music of the African diaspora, and is interested in linking music to culture in ways that are both accessible and empowering.  As an educator, Yousef believes that music and the arts are an important component in the fight for justice and integral to the self-confidence and achievement of students. 

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he has performed with many groups including La Misa Negra (Afro-Colombian), Bang Data (Latin-Alternative), Conjunto Afroson (Salsa Dura), Lagos Roots Afrobeat Ensemble, Orchestra Gold (African Rock from Mali), and Barrio Manouche (Flamenco Fusion).
